Alexandra Pace’s Corridorworld (2019) intercepts nightmarish childhood memories by using fragments of corridor scenes from Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. The artist deconstructed the original film script in order to build a scenario where the characters appear confined, stuck in a state of mutual pursuit without resolution. The original audio is replaced by repetitive sound effects that emphasize the lack of any beginning. All of a sudden, the viewer is seized with the instinct to direct the child out of the virtual maze, or manipulate the joystick until reaching a ‘game over’
