Flo Kasearu
Fragile Cut, 2020
1/2

plaster sculptures, framed, 36x51 cm

The artist’s 2012 self-portrait bust entitled “Monument of the Living Artist” depicted Flo protecting herself from the approaching tsunami with a swimming cap. Notably, it was missing a nose, pointing to the fact that noses, fingers and penises are often sculptures’ weakest links that tend to break off first.
In “Fragile Cut” (2020), the artist has paid special attention to these sensitive parts, creating an edition out of the broken off noses, which have been remade in plaster and displayed protected behind glass.
