Cibrián

Cibrián is a contemporary art gallery, established in 2018, based in San Sebastián, Spain. Our exhibition program is shaped by our geographic context, and the entire economy of the gallery and its balance depends on our ability to rethink the modes of production and exhibition, creating a new audience and expectations. To do so, we invite emerging and established artists to work with local resources and knowledge. We hope that the resulting ecology opens up new critical resources to both the local communities and the artists.

Irene Abello

Irene Abello (b. Bogotá, Colombia, 1995 lives and works in Paris) composes with invisible energies, apprehending natural elements as materials to be sculpted. Her work reveals the formal motifs in the material’s physical reactions. To this end, she performs minimal actions in her immediate environment, even to the point of simple observation. She immortalizes and reinterprets her perceptual experiences through installation, photography, and video: flames consuming debris, clouds of steam escaping from a manhole, blossoming sprouts from withered potatoes, rough walls delicately hidden from view…
Each of her works emanates from a living time, taken from reality and suspended, paused by a gesture of re-enchantment.
Irene Abello has graduated from l’École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Paris in 2021. Recent solo and duo exhibitions include Vecteurices Discidentxs, duo show; Espace Nonono, Montreuil, 2023, Fuegos Fatuos, cur. Licia Demuro, Octopus Coop, Paris 2024. Group shows include Une mer de petites flammes, cur. Sebastian Quevedo Ramirez, Galerie Air de Paris, Romainville, 2024, Faire Image, cur. Virna Gvero and Jade Mahrour (collectif Espace fine), Galerie Michel Journiac, Paris, 2024 amongst others.

Yun Ping

Through his interest in self-portrait, Yun Ping 昀平 (Hubei, China, 1998) connects transit to permanence while setting a tone, a thick atmosphere emerging from the sequencing of scenes that make up the series 回家 (Huí Jiā). This thickness comes from the artist’s working with different scales —body, home, and geography— and the variations between narration, representation, image, what is put in front of the camera, and what happens outside.
Yun Ping 昀平 grew up in Eibar and currently lives in Madrid. His interest in the medium of photography grew in parallel to his journey in search for identity. He studied photography at the Artediez school in Madrid. In 2023, he presented his solo exhibition 回家 (Huí Jiā) at El Local, Madrid and at Galeria Candy Darling, Barcelona. Among his group exhibitions are: Solo si huele a tierra, La Panera, Lleida, Zhōngguó. El País del Centro, Museo Nacional de Antropología, Madrid and Un cambio de paradigma, Sala de Arte Joven, Madrid, all in 2024.
