Emanuele Marcuccio (1987, lives and works in Milan) is an Italian visual artist working with transposition, creative direction, management and collaboration. His most recent work marked by a constant interplay of elements, embodies a sense of perpetual movement that, in some cases, hint at a forthcoming cinematic experience, offering a tantalizing yet ambiguous glimpse. The artist may be seen as either performing, in the sense of delivering a message, or choosing not to do so deliberately. Marcuccio’s work is a form of self-analysis, this exploration ignites and deflates expectations of productivity, commercial application, exposure and realization.
For Paris Internationale 2023, Lodos proudly presents a new body of work by Italian artist Emanuele Marcuccio. The presentation includes a new series of photographic images created in collaboration with the photographer Marc Asekhame. The scenes capture a curious wandering dog in a makeshift set and a close-up detail of a saxophone. These photographs are affixed to a silkscreened background designed by the artist, creating the illusion of a piece of wall being cut and framed. Additionally, two newly crafted pieces of furniture mimic a domestic environment. Their shapes not only suggest a wardrobe and a chest of drawers but also, in some way, evoke the architecture of the building that could house them.

Installation views, Dream pop, Emanuele Marcuccio, Lodos, Mexico City, 2022.
Emanuele Marcuccio’s “Dream pop,” at Lodos, takes on scenographic themes in a more subtle yet effective way. The show is succinct: only a few components lead the spectator to figure out they are standing in a set—though what the set is for remains unclear. Half the walls are covered in kraft paper, indicating the crafty quality of most props, but also cleverly creating a visual divide, an inside versus an outside. Right on this division hang four pictures, collectively titled “Sugar rush” (2022) and created by Marcuccio with fashion photographer Marc Asekhame.
