Yongjae Lee
Yongjae Lee’s practice explores the structure and temporality of painting. He speaks about painting through painting, creating paintings that represent other paintings. Drawing on Eastern and Western art histories, printed reproductions, and digital images as points of reference, he explores the grammar of painting and the conditions through which it takes shape. Lee regards tradition not as a fixed past, but as a heritage continuously formed and reformed through specific historical and cultural contexts. By citing and repositioning images from different periods and sources, he establishes new relationships between them and attends to what he describes as the “post-original state,” constructing narratives that extend beyond representation. His work is grounded in the methodology of the meta-picture, borrowing and transforming the structures of earlier paintings and the imagery of others. Through this prfocess, painting becomes an ongoing conversation and a sustained field of research.
Yongjae Lee (b. 1991, lives and works in Seoul) received his BFA and MFA in Painting from Seoul National University. Lee currently holds a position as Professor of Painting at Seoul National University. He has held solo exhibitions at spaces such as CAPTION (2026) and Bio Gallery (2025). His work has been shown in group exhibitions at Perigee Gallery (2025), YK Presents (2024, 2023), and the Seoul National University Museum of Art (2024). In 2026, he was presented by CAPTION for the Focus section of Frieze Seoul, and his work Book (2026) was featured on the Frieze uniform as part of a collaboration with Stone Island.

Kay Yoon
Kay Yoon works between Germany and Korea, navigating cultural memory and embodied rituals through machinic mediation. Between Korean folk tradition and globalized technologies, she translates sensations and spectral voices that refuse a singular language. Yoon works across sculpture, sound, and installation, wherein common objects, furniture, and musical instruments are imbued with new meaning. Rhythms of traditional music and the dissonances of modern noise form auditory encounters within corporeal, often participatory performances. Her practice centers on ‘affective migration’ as a process of temporal and linguistic transit, beyond geographies and the immediate present.
Kay Yoon (b. 1994, works across Korea and Germany) culminated her studies in sculpture in 2023 at the Sculptural Department of Academy of Fine Arts Munich under Prof. Alexandra Bircken. Previously, she studied media art at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig and the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg under Prof. Michael Sailstorfer and Prof. Ottmar Hörl. Her works have been exhibited internationally at the Korean Cultural Center New York (2026), Jeonnam Museum of Art (2025) Trauma Bar und Kino Berlin (2022), Kunstpavillon München (2021), and AO Kunsthalle Leipzig (2020). She has held solo exhibitions in venues such as 4D Projektraum BBK Leipzig (2021), Sic! Elephanthouse Lucerne (2021), SOMA 300 Berlin (2022), Sauers Berlin(2023) and Metalhouse Gallery Yangpyeong (2024). In 2025, she received a scholarship from the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts. Artist residencies include the NARS Foundation residency in New York and Popps Packing in Detroit.
