Temnikova & Kasela

Temnikova & Kasela Gallery (EE) was founded in 2010 by Olga Temnikova—an artist and graphic designer with prior gallery management experience—and Indrek Kasela, a creative entrepreneur, philanthropist, cinema owner, and film producer. The gallery provides professional representation within the region for both established and emerging artists from Estonia, Latvia, Finland, and Russia. At the core of the gallery’s program is contemporary conceptual art with a strong social message.

For the past 14 years, Temnikova & Kasela has presented a regular exhibition program at its Tallinn gallery, working closely with artists and collectors while playing an active role in the regional and international art scenes. International projects hosted by the gallery include group exhibitions such as “Narcotics” (2020), “Any body suspended in space will remain in space until made aware of its situation” (2018), “Euroland” (2017), and “International Fun” (2016), as well as exhibitions by artists including Katja Novitskova, Nik Kosmas, Ilja Karilampi, Cosima von Bonin, Klara Liden, Eva Koťátková, Tobias Kaspari, Gili Tali, Sophie Jung, Dan Mitchell, Josephine Pryde, Merlin Carpenter, Georgie Nettell, Carlos Motta, Toni Schmale, Sonja Iakovleva, and Nicholas Grafia. The gallery’s artists have been exhibited at renowned German institutions such as KW Berlin (Kris Lemsalu, Love Song-Along, 2020), HKW (Jaanus Samma, As Though We Hid the Sun in a Sea of Stories), the Museum of Contemporary Art Siegen (Katja Novitskova, autumn 2023), and Kunsthalle Recklinghausen (Flo Kasearu, 2022).

Temnikova & Kasela is arguably the most established gallery in the Baltic region and one of the most internationally active galleries across the Baltics and Scandinavia. The gallery’s artists boast impressive institutional credentials; most have represented or are representing Estonia at the Venice Biennale, and their works are held in collections such as the Art Museum of Estonia, Kiasma (Helsinki), Moderna Museet (Stockholm), the Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam), the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, MoMA, and Tate, as well as in private collections including the Louis Vuitton Foundation, Trussardi, Erica Hoffman, Boros, Alain Servais, and the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation.

In addition to creating a platform for international dialogue in Tallinn, Temnikova & Kasela is dedicated to supporting its artists’ activities abroad, fostering relationships with art professionals outside Estonia, and participating in art fairs. The gallery has participated in fairs such as Art Basel, The Armory Show, Cosmoscow, LISTE, Paris Internationale, NADA Miami Beach, and Frieze, among others.
