The gallery was founded in late 1999 with a focus on young, emerging artists. Karin Guenther has accompanied most of these artistic positions from their very beginnings. Over time, these artists have grown alongside the gallery and continuously developed their practices, so that what once began as a selection of young positions has evolved into a now established and diverse group of artists.
The programme focuses on conceptually working artists who engage with the material qualities of traditional artistic media, thereby reflecting the historical development from the emergence of conceptualism to its contemporary manifestations.
In recent years, the gallery has been undergoing a continuous process of development and reorientation. This includes a renewed emphasis on younger artistic positions, as well as a deliberate expansion of historical positions, placing them in a contemporary context. At the same time, a gradual structural transition is taking place within the gallery, involving the increasing integration of a younger generation into its leadership and ongoing development.
